Digital Pedagogy

2016-2017

We co-organized a showcase on digital pedagogy, held at USD on October 21, 2016. SD-DH Convergence 2016: Learning through Digital Humanities built off of the efforts of our yearlong NEH project in digital pedagogy through a regional collaborative.

2015-2016 NEH Workshops in Digital Pedagogy

We focused on digital pedagogy through a year-long project supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities. “Building and Strengthening Digital Humanities through a Regional Network brought together 30 faculty members from 7 colleges in the San Diego region to learn together about digital humanities teaching and to implement innovative lessons into classrooms and student populations which are not supported, at the institutional level, in such experimentation.

2014-2015 Learning Community

During the academic year 2014-2015, we piloted a Learning Community through SDSU’s Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), “Digital Communications Across the Curriculum.” The goal of this group was to unite individual faculty members into a collective for the purpose of co-learning and collectively innovating in our digital pedagogical practices.

The Learning Community gathered 20 instructors (including faculty, librarians, graduate students, and staff) from across campus who meet twice a month to develop curriculum, rubrics, and strategies for teaching digital projects, using digital tools, and incorporating digital practices into classrooms learning. The success of the shared learning experience was palpable in the room at every meeting but was also visible in our end-of-the-year showcase of student projects.
